Photo Image Update Failure (not show new)

I've uploaded a new photo, but it doesn't show?
I cannot get a new logo uploaded to the site.

Most Likely Worked
Most likely everything worked fine and the photo did upload but you're not seeing it because of the built in "cache" setting in your browser. This is one of those tricky deals. We could force the cache to be rebuilt every time so that when you upload a new photo you'll instantly see it. But that would then mean that everybody and their uncle will have to reload photos every time they come to the page and that would just slow everybody down. So in this case we choose to inconvenience the few (you the admin) for the sake of the many (all your users).

Potential Work Arounds

  • Shift-F5: On a Windows machine you can do a forced refresh by holding down the Shift Key and pressing F5
  • For Sure Test: The easiest way to see if your photo took is to open the site on a fresh computer. You can go ask a coworker to look at it from their machine or call a close family member who owes you a favor. If the new image shows up for them, it's there and it's just a cache issue for you.
  • Clear the Cache: You can "clear the cache" in your browser and that should force all the pictures to be reloaded. The downside is that it then forces all sites to reload.
  • Forced Delete: This is a two step process that often works. So first, you go to Admin: Customize -> Upload/Delete Photos. Find the "home page logo" and follow the instructions to delete it. Then click on the "Site Pick" button on the bottom of the site. That will clear the site info. Then reload your site and go to the home page. The image should be gone (if not, something else is going on). Then load your new image.

Give It Time
If it is a cache issue, they typically resolve themselves in a few, up to 24 hours. So just give it time to update your browser.

Tier 3 Assistance
If you really need it updated, Tier 3 can do a force reset that can clear it. Just submit a ticket to request assistance.
